Leonard Neff has been studying art in Cologne under the artist Marion Beier since 2022.
As part of his training as a graphic designer, he learned academic drawing under the artist Peter Hehner, who in turn was a master student of Gerhard Richter.
Limitation and counterintuitive representation are central means of expression in his representational painting, which is based on a researching, contemplative view of the supposedly profane. He takes up gestures and details from different influences such as Pop Art and the traditional woodcut technique and reformulates them.
